Only in the last 10 years has she used paint to convey her vision of the local landscape, and is strongly influenced by Richard Diebenkorn and Jim Dine. Her first series of paintings depicted hydro dams, the next, explored the contrast between soft lines of nature and the harder manmade instrusions in the landscape. These new works include contour lines and are from Diana’s original drawings of Banks Peninsula, Lyttelton and Akaroa Harbour, Hurunui River mouth, Canterbury Plains and the Waimakariri River. She has had solo and group exhibitions with her work being represented in USA, Canada, Singapore, England, Australia and New Zealand. |
