Glenys Porter has lived and worked in Los Angeles as an artist, designer and illustrator for the past twenty years. Her paintings have been exhibited at local art shows in Santa Monica and Venice and can be found in private collections across the country. Her design work and illustrations have been published by such companies as Disney, The Getty Museum, McKesson, Nestle and Toyota Motor Sales. Her primary focus at present is exploring abstract form with acrylic paint, after spending many years as a realist depicting a wide variety of subject matter including still life, figurative work and architectural studies. "I have always been fascinated by the visual impact of humanity upon nature. The interaction between Nature's resilience and Humanity's persistence has shaped, to a large degree how I see the world. Residing in an urban setting for most of my life, I see daily evidence of man's ingenuity and nature coexisting, seemingly incongruous and yet harmonious. My paintings are structurally abstract images influenced in part by these perceptions."
