Jos Coufreur was born in 1959 in Holland, and studied art at the Royal Academy of Art in Den Bosch. He and his wife immigrated to New Zealand in 1987 and now have four children. Jos started painting as a youngster. He specialised in animals about 15 years ago. He moved to Cambridge to be closer to the horse owners. He opened "The Equine Image" Gallery, but after 2 years felt he would rather paint from his studio and sell his works through other galleries. He has now completely gone away from animals and now paints children and figures mainly in acrylic. All his artworks are done from his own photographs. 

 Awards: KG Fraser Award 2004 and 1st professional oil section Royal Easter Show, Auckland. Snells Beach Summer Art Exhibition, 1st and 2nd 2005. Education: Although I went to Art School my paintings are mainly self taught. I have developed my own impressionistic technique. Other artists I really admire are: Howard Terpning (USA), Rien Poortvliet (Netherlands), Robert Hagan (Australia) and Harley Brown (USA).
