(Oh, the remembered joy of a new box of crayons. . .) However, at university I did a degree in science, believing in the more useful practicality of biology and chemistry. My work is done on composite stone that I make up myself (grout, cement and sand). I carve and texturise the surface as it is hardening. I use Indian Ink and watercolours that soak into the grain of the stone. I then coat the work with a UV filtered acrylic laminate. My “Sacred Language” series feels like a language to me, the patterns of colour and form that appear speak to me through my senses. I feel the colours & shapes of the painting rather than try to read it analytically with my logical mind. I use colour and geometry to describe my joyful connection to the Soul of the World. My series “Translations” uses some representational elements or symbols. I am engaging my logical mind to tell a story about human connections, “translating” my joy.
