Darynie JonesShow current work by this artist | Show sold work by this artist Darynie is a painter, sculptor, designer and art teacher. She is well known for her effortless movement between mediums including stone, ceramics, wood, oil painting and watercolours. Background: Darynie is the daughter of painter and potter Robyn Jones, now living on the Thames Coast of the Coromandel Peninsula. Darynie was brought up in the bush and beach environs surrounding the Manukau Harbour and traveled to school in Auckland at St Cuthbert’s College. Following on from two years study at the University of Canterbury School of Fine Arts, Darynie also studied graphic design at the Auckland University of Technology. After many years in Auckland as an Art Director in advertising and publishing Darynie moved to Oamaru in 2004 to be close to the thriving artistic community of North Otago and in particular to Oamaru Stone sculpture. Darynie is a colourful, lively character involved in the local pottery club and is an elected member of the Whitestone Community Arts Council.
