Born in 1966 in Christchurch, Michael has been painting full time for the last 7 years. Although having received no formal training, this talented artist is able to produce beautiful works of art straight from the soul. His discovery of his natural ability was a shock to him as he had never attempted to paint until one day he was asked to create a gift. He began that day and has never looked back since. Still unable to understand where his gift came from he believes a higher power works within him.

 “From every painting I create, I learn a lot from the experience and this flows on to the next work i.e. techniques, colours, subjects and moods etc. I paint very quickly while the mood takes me and when I paint I throw myself into the subject literally. I often paint outside because I make such a mess – I have paint all over my hands, on my arms, in my hair and mouth! I totally loose myself, breathing life and beauty into my paintings, to me this is the ultimate and is an extremely powerful emotion. I especially like to paint landscapes, people and things that represent a part of my life – it’s my expression of who I am.” Michael is passionate about his art and his current paintings explore the probabilities of the eternal spirit in all things and he feels he is on the threshold of exciting new breakthroughs ahead. His work can be found hanging in NZ homes and businesses as well as in the USA, Australia, Holland, and Japan.
